2014-15 Scholarship Recipients

Alesha, Lake Charles

Alesha's dad, a paramedic, was killed while working outside when he was pinned and crushed between a windblown mobile home and a car.


Allana, Marrero

Allana's dad fell and died while working on a barge on the Mississippi River. 


Anna, Breaux Bridge

Anna's dad was permanently and totally disabled in a vehicular work accident when four discs in his low back were shattered and four discs in his neck were ruptured. 


Caleb, Lake Charles

Caleb's dad was permanently and totally disabled at work. He has since passed away.


Candice, Marksville

Candice's dad worked at a prison. He became disabled when he broke his back carrying a man out of a riot.


Casey, Denham Springs

Casey's dad, a nurse anesthetist developed a severe anaphylactic allergy to latex, disabling him.


Christina, Boyce

Christina's dad was a mail man, became involved in a hostage situation while delivering mail and was shot and killed.


Gage, Iowa

Gage's dad became disabled when he was crushed by a 2,500 pound bundle of pipes that fell on him while working. Three discs were destroyed in his neck, he sustained severe shoulder damage, had a concussion and broke his leg. Eventually his left arm was amputated.


Heather, New Orleans

Heather's dad became disabled in a work accident when he fell off of a roof, severed his spinal cord and became paralyzed. He has since passed away.


Jacob, Leesville

Jacob's dad fell at work and suffered traumatic brain injury, disabling him.


Jessica, Eros

Jessica's dad died when he was working on a new house and fell from the roof.


JuliAnne, Franklin

JuliAnne's dad was killed when he was ran over by a tractor at work.


Katelyn, Jefferson 

Katelyn's dad was a cab driver. He was shot and killed while on the job.


Lauren, Lake Charles

Lauren's mom was a teacher. She became permanently disabled in a work accident.


Mariett, St. Amant

Mariett's dad was a mover, he was paralyzed when a large load fell on him.


Rayce, Lake Arthur

Rayce's dad worked for mosquito control. He was killed when his plane crashed.


Tanner, Iowa

Tanner's dad became disabled when he was crushed by a 2,500 pound bundle of pipes that fell on him while working. Three discs were destroyed in his neck, he sustained severe shoulder damage, had a concussion and broke his leg. Eventually his left arm was amputated.


Taylor, Sulphur

Taylor's mom worked for a petroleum company and suffered 3rd degree burns on 30% of her body, permanently disabling her.
