Kids' Chance Awareness Week was a Success!

  • Governor John Bel Edwards declared November 8-12, 2021, LBF Kids’ Chance Awareness Week in Louisiana.
  • Committee members prepared care packages for the current scholarship recipients. The packages included swag from some of our donors, gift cards to local restaurants, snacks, ball caps, koozies, phone stands, and lots of school supplies.
  • LBF representatives, committee members, and some of the current and past students attended the Urban South Brewery Kids’ Chance meet and greet.
  • Tyran, a first year LBF Kids’ Chance scholarship recipient, was awarded the Jim Hudak and Sally Silvia Scholarship from Kids’ Chance of America.
  • Thank you to Lunsford Baskin & Priebe, PLLC, the premier Dean’s List sponsor, for committing to $5,000 a year for four years.

Kids’ Chance Awareness Week is a national initiative designed to highlight Kids’ Chance scholarship programs in 49 states across the United States. Kids’ Chance believes that we can make a significant difference in the lives of all children affected by workplace injuries by helping them pursue and achieve their educational goals.

LBF Kids' Chance Recipient Receives Jim Hudak and Sally Silvia Scholarship

The Louisiana Bar Foundation Kids' Chance Scholarship Program is helping kids achieve their dreams. The program provides scholarships to the children of Louisiana workers who have been killed or permanently and totally disabled in an accident compensable under a state or federal Workers' Compensation Act or law.

Governor John Bel Edwards Proclaims Kids' Chance Awareness Week!

Governor Edwards proclaimed November 8-12, 2021 Kids’ Chance Awareness Week in the State of Louisiana. The Louisiana Bar Foundation (LBF) Kids’ Chance Scholarship Program is for dependents of Louisiana workers killed or permanently and totally disabled in a work accident. Every year the entire Kids’ Chance community dedicates one special week to raise awareness of Kids’ Chance Scholarship Programs nationwide.

Please attend the LBF Kids’ Chance Awareness Party on November 10, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Urban South Brewery. For every beer purchased Urban South will donate $1 to the LBF Kids’ Chance program. There will be music by DJ Charles Belonge, light refreshments thanks to Cvitanovic Towing, games for the kids, and plenty of fun.

LBF Kids' Chance to award $27,000 in scholarships to children of injured Louisiana workers

The Louisiana Bar Foundation (LBF) Kids’ Chance Scholarship program is awarding $27,000 in scholarships to eight students in Louisiana for the 2021-22 school year. Scholarships are awarded to dependent children of Louisiana workers killed or permanently and totally disabled in an accident compensable under a state or federal Workers’ Compensation Act or law.

The LBF Kids' Chance Program was started in 2004 and is administered by the LBF and governed by a committee representing a cross-section of the state's legal and workers compensation communities.

Since 2004, the LBF has awarded 322 scholarships totaling $784,000.

2021-22 recipients are: Tyler Byrd, Pearl River; Katelyn Cobbs, Hollister, MO; Matthew Garrett, Montegut; Mason Graham, Luling; Blake Ledet, Houma; Breanna Leleaux, Lafayette; Tyran Nogess, New Orleans; and Hallie Rogers, Patterson.
