POSITION:                           Major Gifts Officer

 

POSITION SUMMARY:     The Major Gifts Officer executes and manages cultivation and stewardship strategies in support of fundraising campaigns, gift planning and major gift procurement, donor relations, and annual giving. Working closely with senior staff, the Major Gifts Officer is an integral part of a professional team with a mission to increase effective engagement with the philanthropic community.

 

MANAGES:                          Grants and Development Coordinator

 

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

·         As the primary liaison to the Major Gifts Subcommittee, oversees major giving directly working with donors and volunteers. This person will manage the stewardship of LBF donors and identify and pursue new donors and funding opportunities. The Major Gifts Officer will secure major gifts at the $5,000 to $100,000 level with the goal of raising a minimum of $500,000 annually. 

·         Help our donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through a relationship with our organization.

·         Work with the President, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operations Officer, and other development team members to align all efforts and set goals.

·         Make direct, face-to-face solicitations, and assist the board and other staff with their solicitation providing portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and help with donor communications.

·         Acknowledge major donors through public and private recognition.

·         As the primary liaison to the Membership Subcommittee, coordinate Fellows Program giving, other donor fundraising activities, including implementation of the annual development plan, Fellows annual giving program, spring, fall and year-end appeals.

·         As the primary liaison to the Community Partnership Panels, work in conjunction with the Events and Sponsorships Manager and regional leadership to plan and implement activities and events during the bar year.

·         With other development team members, manage systems and software to track and cultivate major donors and prospects, including our donor database and wealth screening tools and evaluate success of previous fundraising events.

·         Track and report progress using specific metrics.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Bachelor’s Degree in related field of public relations, communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or business.

·         Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience in development, major gifts fundraising and constituent engagement responsibility.

·         The ambition to confidently ask for monetary and in-kind contributions.

·         A profound understanding of moves management strategy and the capability to design and execute donor-centric engagement activities.

·         The professional and emotional intelligence to work with high-level organization leaders, staff, board members, and volunteers.

·         Proficiency in research and relevant analysis, including navigation of databases and online resources.

·         Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

·         Commitment to authentic diversity, equity, and inclusion.
